England reacted to the criticism levelled at them in recent weeks and months – and fairly so to be honest – in the best possible way this evening as they inflicted Croatia’s first ever competitive defeat on their own patch, and in some style…

A hat trick from Theo Walcott and another from Wayne Rooney saw us to a fantastic 4-1 world cup qualifying victory!

Unfortunately Pompey only had one lion tonight, as opposed to the three lions we had at the weekend, with this lion being David James. Wes Brown and Emile Heskey returned in place of Glen Johnson and Jermain Defoe who had to be content with places on the bench – where they stayed.

Well played England, it was a fantastic performance but lets not get carried away by this – no doubt we will be ‘the greatest team in the world’ again now! Lets enjoy the moment, and to have beaten a nation never beaten on their own soil before, and a nation that had become our ‘bogey team’ is something to revel in but lets not get overly carried away with this… just yet anyway!

I cannot let this moment pass without giving a mention to sea-juicer, well mate you had said for a good few days that England would win 4-1 – and so they did, I hope that you had a few quid on this as if you did you will be quids in, which will mean the beers are on you this weekend prior to Boro…

PLAY UP POMPEY!
