Arsenal have apparently left Lassana Diarra out of their squad that will face Spurs tonight in the league cup, with this being said an ‘acceptance’ by Arsene Wenger that he will be leaving the club this month.

Pompey are being heavily linked with the French international, along with Newcastle who have already made enquires, but once again the stumbling block for us would appear to be the size of the transfer fee involved…

Arsenal are said to have already rejected a £4m offer from Spurs and are looking for as much as £6m for the midfielder that they paid £2m on deadline day last August. Man City, PSG, Marseille and Lyon are also said to be interested.

I think that we were interested in him during the summer before his move to Arsenal, but unless Sacha Gaydamak will dig deep again, unless Arsenal would be willing to do a loan deal with us then I cannot see how we could get the fella – that is if he would even come here?

Speaking of loans and Arsenal, there has again been some talk in the past 24 hours that Theo Walcott could be loaned to us possibly for the remainder of the season? This is not a move that quite a few would like because of his saints background, but as I have said before I would be more than happy with this as he is a classy footballer.
