The Daily Mail Online is reporting that we have had an offer for Peter Crouch rejected by Liverpool…

If true, this would explain why Harry Redknapp had today said that a deal might not happen as much as he wanted it too as Liverpool were ‘asking too much’ for the England man.

The report says that we ‘wanted to pay £7m up front with the rest in extras’ – with these extras seeing the final fee rise to a ‘reported’ £9m.

As we all know Crouch is out of contract next summer, so would be able to arrange a free transfer for that summer in January, or move on right away with the price likely to drop dramatically – but that could be a risky game to play, so if we, or anyone else want him it needs to be now really…

It is no secret that I want him to come back to Fratton, but at the end of the day we have to stick by our guns – if we do not want to pay anymore than x amount, we will not will we.

Although I reckon a straight up offer of £8.5m or thereabout could well do the trick…

Thoughts as ever guys – if we have seen this offer rejected do you think we will improve it or is this deal now dead?
