Is this not typical, Martin Cranie was in a rich vein of form with QPR – with whom he was on loan – but the youngster has only gone and broke his leg…

He was stretchered off in QPR’s game with Coventry last night and is now expected to be out for at least 2 months. It is bad, but not as bad as it could have been, it just means that he will not get any more football under his belt before attempting to challenge for a spot with Pompey early next year.

Cranie was due to return in January, but has now returned earlier than expected to be treated for the injury.

In an article I wrote yesterday I was raving about the fella, saying how much of a bright future I believed he will have, hopefully this will not hamper his progress…
