Right, you are looking for a new manager, a manager preferably with experience, knowledge of the premier league, the proven ability to work to a ‘tight budget’, a guy that is respected by his piers and best of all they are available…

The chances of this kind of figure, with all those qualities falling into you lap when you need it are not that great are they, but this has happened now with Steve Coppell deciding to call it a day at Reading!

After Reading missed out in the play-offs last night he decided to resign saying ‘it’s the best thing, for both the club and myself, for me to leave,’ although it has been strongly rumoured that Coppell was leaving this summer, promotion or not. He had actually seriously considered leaving when they were relegated last season…

Some reports say that he was considering retirement, lets act fast to tempt him into a quick return to management – if we do not someone else will at least try!

Get on the blower Storrie and get him lined up to take over in the summer, assuming he would want the job? Coppell has always struck me as ‘a man of honour’, so if we had a little chat with him now about taking over I am sure he would honour this and take over once the season ends…

Ok, he might not be the ‘Mr charisma’ that we might feel we needed, but the guy ticks most, if not all of the boxes that we would want/need in our next manager – does he not?
