The chances are that if Jed Wallace is fit that he will be playing for Pompey next season.

Although, earlier this week, Andy Awford kind of ‘challenged’ and ‘warned’ him when talking to the News.

The challenge was to consistently perform; the warning was he will have competition.

We already have players at Fratton that will challenge him for his starting place with Awford looking to bring in other attacking options this summer too and it is all of that to leave Wallace in little doubt that he is NOT assured a starting place.

Consistency is the key for Wallace.

He had spells where he was awful last season, unplayable, awful again and then fantastic again – yep all players have ‘ups and downs’ but what Wallace needs to do in the season, and future seasons, to come if find that level of consistency.

Should he do that we will do well, and hopefully step up a level or two if we perform as a side. If we do not then his performances will bring him the move to a higher-level.

Lets do this together though eh all being well!

Awford also says that his fitness, strength and conditioning needs to be worked on this summer – a good summer of hard work in the gym will stand him in good stead as it has others previously over the years.

Securing him, and for another 3-years, is something that I am still delighted by.
