The ‘rumours’ have been going around recently, including on the forum here on VP, that should Liverpool win the title this season then Pompey are in line for a ‘cash windfall’ from the Scousers…

While Pompey continue to ‘play this down’ the common conception now is that a ‘clause’ inserted into Glen Johnson’s Liverpool contract when he left Fratton for Anfield entitled us to a £1m payout if they won the title during his time with the club.

Bloody hell did Peter Storrie really include a clause that benefited Pompey!

Liverpool are currently top of the league, granted they still have to play both Man City and Chelsea I think but ‘if’ they win every game they have left no one can catch them, they win the league for the 1st time in over 20-years and we get £1m.

Thankyou very much…

Of course this would go to paying off former players and debts I guess but it would eat heavily into what is owed and come in very, very handy.

No doubt, knowing how things have gone for PFC, somehow someone else will stand to benefit from this should Liverpool go on and win the premier league title…

Fingers crossed not though, and the Scousers pull it off.

As it happens, from what I have seen of the premier league this season, I must say that I have been impressed with Liverpool and based on current form – even before this ‘clause’ – they were the side that I thought most deserved to win the title and the side I had wanted to win it as well to be honest.

I will now be cheering them all the way… You’ll Never Walk Alone!
