Finishing top of the league, here’s a run down on the men who got us there: Michael Smith.

STRIKER

Michael Smith (Played 18 (4 as Sub) Scored 3):

Another one who got a pretty tough time from fans. Cook’s first choice at the start of the season, he fell out of favour after failing to impress. But when he worked his way back into the team (thanks to an EFL Trophy hat-trick) he looked like a different player.

His hold up play was fantastic and won Man of the Match in 5 games out of 7. But a poor run of form saw Smith become the scapegoat, and with the addition of Eoin Doyle to the squad he left on loan to Northampton.

  • Yes, far from the best player we’re seen at Fratton Park but miles away from the worst? Always a trier and, as Frippy pointed out, Man of the Match winning in a string of games but confidence was shot when fans turned on him – I didn’t think that was the Pompey way? I was also always under the impression if someone gave it 100% that was usually good enough… Cannot see a way back for him at Fratton now, but will Northampton sign him?!

  • Not as bad as we think but certainly not good enough for where we want to be & go. Byeeeeeee…..
