With Pompey beating Fulham 1-0 earlier in the day thanks to Benjani’s goal, we could sit back, relax and wait as Liverpool and South China battled it out for a place against us in the Barclays Asia Trophy final on Friday.

As expected Liverpool won comfortable 3-1, including some cracking goals from John Arne Riise and Daniel Agger to become our final opponents.

It may not be a major piece of silverware, or even a piece of silverware that will mean much to many but Pompey does not win much so victory on Friday would do me nicely.

Winning this tournament would not only bring us back to England on even more of a high ahead of the coming season, but will raise our profile even more in Asia. Liverpool are treated like Kings out there, so to dethrone them would see our stock rise.
