The News is saying that Kevin-Prince Boateng, Hassan Yebda and Papa Bouba Diop are all ‘set’ to return to training this week, so long as they get the all clear, which then puts them into contention for a place in the semi final squad…

Tommy Smith will also have his ‘custom made’ phantom of the opera mask delivered tomorrow to ensure that he can play a part!

People will argue that it is ‘convenient’ that these 3 are pushing for a return with a semi final coming up, and perhaps it is, and whilst I think that Boateng’s attitude has stank BIG time and think that others are more deserving of a place at Wembley can anyone really, hand on heart, say that they do not want us to field our ‘strongest’ side – that would include the whinger, right?

The semi final is as much about us going to Wembley again and ‘enjoying the day’ and showing the world that we are still ‘Pompey and proud’ but I know, speaking for myself personally, that I also desperately want to win this game to return to Wembley for a chance of completing a fairytale and WINNING the FA cup again!

Yep, chances are that NONE of these 3 players will be here next season, and I also suspect that none of the 3 will ‘want’ to be here anyway – although fact of the matter is they ARE here now and WILL be paid regardless, so we have to make the most of them really? And yep, they probably will ONLY be looking to put themselves in the ‘shop window’, but again this ‘should’ benefit us, as if they can add a bit to their value and take away a cup final place, maybe even a cup winners medal it has to be a case of ‘so be it’ in many ways.

I cannot stick mercenaries, and feel ‘on the whole’ we have lost ‘most’ of these, but beggars cannot be chooser can they, and as much as anything selection this weekend will be down to who is fit as much as anything!

So, with that in mind, like I say, the strongest side we can put out the better…

We WILL need some creativity in that midfield, the likes of Boateng and Yebda can offer us this so we cannot be looking to cut off our nose to spite our face, can we?
