Will today be the day for Pompey against Oxford? So far 2018 has seen the Blues fail to win a League One game at Fratton Park.

In fact we have collected just one point from the last four played at Fratton, which compares to nine from a possible 12 in the last four away – recording wins at MK Dons, Fleetwood and Oldham.

Kenny Jackett admits we’ve ‘generally not done well enough at home’ with this form on home soil ‘in stark contrast to our away performances.’

Not only have we failed to get results the performances, in most cases, have also been below par so the manager is not only looking for a result but wants us to put on a show in front of the Sky Sports camera too, keeping alive his hopes we can still make the play-offs.

He told portsmouthfc.co.uk: ‘We owe our supporters a good display and, more importantly, a positive result. We’ll be doing everything we can to deliver. We’re going to need to win home and away games if we want to get into the top six, although both fifth and sixth spot are still available to us.’

Oxford will come under the management of Karl Robinson for the first time, he was appointed this week just a couple of days after parting company with Charlton, who like the U’s are one of those still looking to make it into the top-six.

We’ll look to avenge a 3-0 defeat at the Kassam Stadium earlier in the season, hoping to make the most of their own indifferent form, admittedly they’ve impressed Jackett recently.

Jackett said: ‘They were one of the clubs around us competing for those top six places, although have unfortunately fallen away recently. But, like us, they’ll be hoping to have a big finish to the season. There’s a new manager bounce that can happen and we’ve seen that on a few occasions. They got a very good win last week. I watched the game and they played well against a decent Peterborough side.’

The fact we’ll have Gareth Evans back from his hamstring injury and Nathan Thompson returning from his four-match ban will help – the fact this game is at Fratton will leave many expectant of a result, if we get that performance too will be a major bonus…
