Pompey fans were “the best to come to us in a long time.” The social media view from one Coventry supporter following our midweek win at the Ricoh Arena.
Brilliant fans Pompey, best to come to us in a long time, didn’t stop singing for the full 90. I think our lot were all sung out from Saturday lol

Topping the midweek charts by some way for the largest away following in League One, Pompey were roared on to victory by almost 2,000 fans on Tuesday. Well, 1,961 to be exact, which was still almost 800 more than Luton took for their trip to Oxford, which, without being disrespectful, isn’t too far to go really is it?
Top League One away attendances tonight:
1,961 – Portsmouth (@ Coventry)
1,171 – Luton Town (@ Oxford)
806 – Shrewsbury Town (@ Walsall)
672 – Peterborough United (@ Sunderland)
255 – Plymouth Argyle (@ Barnsley) pic.twitter.com/4gIP5PC4el— TheNinetyTwo (@TheNinetyTwo_) October 2, 2018
What must be pointed out, not looking to rain on our parade, is the fact that not all figures for some games could be collected. However, I’d be surprised if many, in fact any, took more away fans to a game than we did? Almost certainly for midweek in League One…
Fair play Pompey. Struggle to get a train back from Cov ????

Leeds have been put down as the best away following at Coventry in recent times, but the Blue Army did a “great job of trying to match them,” certainly putting Sunderland to shame, who took more than double the amount to the Ricoh before our visit. Not that you would have known it, apparently.
Leeds have been the best away fans we’ve had at the Ricoh (not this season sadly????)….but Portsmouth fans did a great job of trying to match them last night. We had 5,000 Mackems here Saturday who thought they were in church…

It’s always nice to get praise from opposing fans. Ok, we know how good our away following is, both in terms of support in numbers itself and how vocal we are, but as said, always nice to see it recognised by others.
You can’t underestimate the role the Blue Army has in the actions we see on the pitch, especially when confidence if flowing through those pulling on the shirt, which it clearly is at the moment.
PLAY UP POMPEY
