Portsmouth striker Benjani Mwaruwari was the top-scorer in The Actim Index, the official player ratings system of the Barclays Premier League, this week after a 56-point haul helped see off struggling Derby County.

The Zimbabwe international already holds the second-best individual match score of the season so far after his 70-point effort against Reading in September and another hat-trick at Fratton Park lifted him nine places to fourth spot with an overall score of 388 points.

Benjani has been a consistent scorer this term, earning 31 points against Birmingham in November, 38 points against Fulham a month earlier and another 36 in the 1-1 home draw against Manchester United at the start of the campaign – averaging an impressive 18 points per appearance in the process.

Pompey boss Harry Redknapp has six of his squad currently in the Actim Index top 100, with David James (26th), Glen Johnson (31st) and Sylvain Distin (44th) in the top 50.

Analysis of all Premiership games is taking place throughout the season and the players in the Actim Index Team of the Week are:

Radek Cerny – Tottenham Hotspur
Lewin Nyatanga – Derby County
Joleon Lescott – Everton
Ricardo Carvalho – Chelsea
Juliano Belletti – Chelsea
Aaron Lennon – Tottenham Hotspur
Alex Hleb – Arsenal
Tomas Rosicky – Arsenal
Owen Hargreaves – Manchester United
Benjani – Portsmouth
Emmanuel Adebayor – Arsenal

The Actim Index is calculated using a unique mathematical formula that rates each player’s contribution be it goals, shots, passes, dribbles, tackles, crosses, saves, clearances, blocks, interceptions, assists, clean sheets, time on the pitch or number of points gained by the team with marks deducted for red and yellow cards.
