Ashdown discusses contract extension

An article from Pompey-N.I about Paddy Ashdown and talks about a new contract to extend his Fratton stay – read on for more.

Pompey’s longest serving player, Jamie Ashdown is in talks for an extension to his contract.

The 30 year-old Pompey goalkeeper, who’s contract is due to end at the end of the season, said, “We have been talking, that is as far as it goes. If the club want to press ahead with it, it is up to them.

“Hopefully we will be talking some time between now and the end of the season, which will be good. I like it here and am pretty settled. Obviously, I suppose if the club don’t want me you have to move on. That’s what you do, that’s football. But I would definitely like to stay.”

Ashdown has been with the club for seven seasons albeit with a loan out to Norwich in the middle of that. Last season, he set a new club record for post-war league minutes without conceding a goal.
