Although the ‘rumours’ are saying otherwise Harry Redknapp has played down the suggestion that he could make a move for Jimmy Bullard this summer, telling The News: ‘I like Jimmy. I signed him when I was at West Ham for £20,000 from Gravesend & Northfleet.

‘He’s done fantastic, he really has, and I am pleased for the lad. But there is no truth I want to sign him whatsoever.

‘He’s a great lad with a fantastic attitude.

‘To be honest, he’s not one I’ve even considered’.

Just because Redknapp says this it does not mean that he will not make a move – but it would seem unlikely.

I think Bullard is a fantastic footballer who has recovered well from his injury to be as good as he was before – and that form before his long term injury was seeing him linked with an England call-up – but £5m for a player in his late 20s or maybe even early 30s seems unlikely, even in this day and age?

As I say I like the fella, and I do think he could bring something to our midfield, but even putting aside the fact that the rumours have been played down at the £5m price I would see it being unlikely that any deal could happen…
