Pompey were ‘linked’ with Liverpool winger Yossi Benayoun over the weekend, and now Harry Redknapp has admitted an interested in the Israeli but he is not sure what our chances are of getting him…

He told The News: ‘he’s a top player. I don’t know what the chances are of getting him out of Liverpool.

I already thought that over the weekend Benayoun had already said he wanted to stay with Liverpool? But there you go…

Redknapp also spoke about Peter Crouch, playing down the chances of signing him – indicating that the price might be too much for us: ‘it’s known I like Crouchie, too. But it doesn’t look like anything is happening there. I think Liverpool want a bit too much money for him.

‘If that’s the case then we’ll move on to the next option.’

Benayoun would cost a ‘reported’ £6m, with Citeh also interested, whereas Crouch’s value is said to be around £10m, the same amount ‘reported’ for another target Shawn Wright-Phillips, which I would guess would rule him out as well…
