City have been ‘heavily linked’ with former Pompey striker Yakubu in the past week or so and the tabloid suggestion today is they will step up their bid for him.

With Eriksson now installed as the City manager players he targeted before doing so will now be moved on and the ‘talk’ is they will offer Boro £12m. Who says this? A mysterious ‘source close to the club’, this clearly make is true then.

Harry Redknapp has never hid his admiration for Yakubu and would love him back. But with Pompey ‘reported’ as being unwilling to go above £8m, with Boro claimed to be demanding £14m a few weeks back, should City offer £12m they should get their man.

It is also said that he would welcome a move to City now, but this was also said about a return to Pompey – either my thinking is still he will not be at Boro this season.

Many would like him to come back here – and I would not say no – but it could be a case of another one slipping away as David Nugent appears to be?

Whatever happens though we will carry on searching, as there are strikers out there, even if we are sometimes told others wise.

PLAY UP POMPEY!
