I guess really we should not be surprised with the developments with Aaron Mokoena should we?

A failure to secure a valid work permit meant that he could not turn out against Doncaster at the weekend – as it happens this ‘possibly’ could have been a good thing in a footballing sense.

The problem is he is a top earner and the longer this rumbles of the longer he gets paid to literally do nothing…

Quite who should have known about this, obviously Mokoena should, so who is to ‘blame’ is open to debate. From the sounds of it last week Steve Cotterill made it sound like he also knew but for whatever reason this was not sorted.

Today, talking to The News, he sounds far from impressed: ‘he had better hope it is sorted out.

‘I think that potentially he might have been able to get this sorted out a couple of weeks ago when he was suspended.

‘So I’m a little bit disappointed about it and slightly annoyed.’

This is just another farcical situation and meant that he was a 4th highly paid footballer who could not be involved in a game for non-footballing reasons, and this is just ridiculous!

‘Should’ this prove to be Mokoena’s fault, although I cannot see how the club would not have known more about the work permit issues, then I would assume that he has not been paid during this period when he has been unavailable?

Although I doubt it…

As it stands it is far from certain that this will be sorted out by this weekend, so he ‘might’ be forced to sit out another game?

From a defensive footballing viewpoint to be honest I would be selecting Rocha John Rocha anyway so I ‘suspect’ it is a straight choice between the two as to who partners Greg Halford.

That said, as previously said, with Jonathan Hogg suspended there is every chance – providing he is available – that all 3 will be involved against Barnsley anyway with some juggling around to include them all…
