With what Andrew Cole has said in the Sun he has realised something that most of us already knew long ago – his Pompey career is over, ‘I do not know why I have not gone to Hong Kong, you will have to ask the manager.

‘I just want to play football but I cannot see that being at Portsmouth’.

Despite being fit all summer he has not played a part in any pre season game and is unlikely to play another match for the club – so the sooner we can get his high earnings off the wage bill here the better.

When he arrived last summer, even though he was at the ‘veteran’ stage of his career my thinking was this was a good move for the club and I was happy to see him here – this soon changed.

It was soon apparent that time had well and truly caught up with Cole so he was not worthy of the starting place he was demanding. The moment you demand a place in the team and start making threats that you will seek pastures new if you do not play is the time when you know someone is not right for the club.

With others at the club, past and present, for all their faults very few have made such demands and I have little or no time for mercenaries like him.

He has been a great striker in the English game but he came here a few years too late to make any real impact and although he scored a few goals last season even when he did play he did little else.

Harry Redknapp has made some great signings for the club, Cole was not one of them. Sorry to be so harsh but the sooner we get shot of him the better.

Hindsight is a great thing, but giving a fella that would expect almost guaranteed football and had been struggling with injuries in recent years a 2 year contract was crazy, so although he says he wants to play football he may be happy to sit around for another year picking up the good cash he is on here?

PLAY UP POMPEY!
