Academy Finish Fourth

In early May 2007, Pompey were looking at an appalling performances in youth football.

Finishing bottom of the alliance youth league is not something to be proud of. Acquiring 5 points in that time, is even less so.

Step forward one year, and our new academy is thriving! 4th in the academy youth league – above Southampton, above Chelsea, and many other more experienced sides, this is a massive achievement!

And for such a big turn around in only one year, much of the credit must go to Paul Hart and Ian Woan for building such a fantastic team in such of the short space of time – but it is also individuals in the team that appear too be impressing. Matt Ritchie’s name is frequently on the score sheet, as is Paris Cowan-Hall, whilst at the other end, Tommy Smith seems competent in goal.

Well done Pompey!
