A huge game

|

They all are now aren’t they? In a little over an hour, Wigan starts the run of huge games for Pompey, but it’ll be another I’m going to fail to attend – at least my cousin will be able to take his little boy again.

Regardless I know I shouldn’t, but I am! I’m starting to believe – or is it dream?! – a top-six place could be on…

There isn’t much doubt Paul Cook’s Wigan, still a bit odd saying that, come to Fratton Park very much as the favourites – it doesn’t necessarily mean they will win though.

Momentum is a great thing and we’ve started to gain this, potentially at the right time? That being said Wigan have had this for the majority of the season as Cook again proves what an accomplished – and proven – manager he is at League One and League Two levels.

A mate said in our WhatsApp group earlier this morning, looking at a potential play-off place, that ‘looking at past tables 75pts and it gets you up every time.’ They went on to say ‘below 70pts never gets you in.’ With that in mind he was thinking was five wins would take us onto 73pts and it would then be a ’50/50 chance.’ So, ‘six wins and two draws will do it.’ Meaning ‘tonight is HUGE!!!’ Well it is hard to disagree, right?

Such a run of form would be some feat to achieve, if we can manage that though Wembley could beckon.

To be honest, I’m prepared for a defeat, however, if that happened and we responded well – especially with the game at Plymouth shortly – it wouldn’t be the end of the world as looking at the teams we face it can be left in our hands.

All being well Fratton will be rocking today and we can kick off the run-in with a point, at least. How good would all three, a fourth straight win, be though, but can we do it?
