Pompey are going for a double hat-trick tomorrow!

A win would complete a hat-trick of wins on the spin, whereas another cleansheet will mean a hat-trick of cleansheets…

First and foremost I would take the win against Palace, even if this meant an end to our run of not conceding a goal.

September, October time would have been the last time that we won 3, or more, games on the spin – although when we last keep 3 successive cleansheets I have no idea?

It seems like years!

Whilst Palace will not be easy, and you would have to think that whoever wins this game is ‘pretty safe’ as far as relegation goes, there should be no reason why we should not continue our good run and pick up all 3pts at Fratton.

Defensively we have got to build on what we have started to do recently, and the best way to do this is by again retaining that same back 4.

So, I do hope that Steve Cotterill again resists the temptation of bringing Aaron Mokoena back into the defence.

With Liam Lawrence seemingly destined to miss this game he will ‘probably’ come in and play in midfield, although I must say that we would be better served bringing Boss Hogg back into the equation and leaving one of the other loanees that we have out of the squad.

Moko once again showed that he is not a midfielder when he came on for Lawro on Saturday so it is down to Cotterill to prove that he is strong enough to a) refrain from bringing him back into the back 4 and b) he is not afraid to make him sit on the bench again.

It would be nice to complete a double hat-trick tomorrow, although I would settle for just having one half of it and winning!

If we keep a cleansheet too what a bonus that will be eh…
