An earlier ‘Tweet’ by The News’ Neil Allen has now been followed up with an article in The News today that ‘seems’ to rule the early favourite, and someone that plenty of ‘rumour’ and even ‘tip offs’ had down as a strong candidate to become the next Pompey manager…

So, Dave Jones it aint, it would seem at this point in time?

He has told The News that he is ‘flattered’ by the links be he has ‘had no contact with the club whatsoever’ and it ‘definitely wasn’t him’ at Fratton at the weekend and ‘that is all he wants to say really.’

The News ‘understands’ that Jones is not even under consideration as it would be too costly employing him and his coaching staff…

I think it is ‘probably’ too early to say this is definitely the case as he is hardly going to say too much at this point in time although it would ‘appear’ that the early pace setter will now fall back into the field…

I know someone who will be revelling in this news, mentioning no names – but you know who you are 🙂

Once again Guy Whittingham has reiterated that he does not want the job, so we can ‘rule him out’ anyway!

At this point in time there are ‘said’ to be no fewer than 40 people interested in the job, it is now just a case of separating the wheat from the chaff and then drawing up a short-list, maybe this will be ready by the weekend maybe not?

According to what sky sports ‘understands’ at the moment Karl Robinson and Nigel Worthington are ‘early contenders’ with Sean O’Driscoll and Billy Davies also possibilities…
